El New York Times realizó una investigación sobre el colapso de la línea 12 en la Ciudad de México, llegando a la conclusión de que desde la construcción había fallas y una de las razones fue la prisa del gobierno por concluir la obra. Ante ello la jefa de Gobierno Claudia Sheinbaum destacó que el NYT siempre ha buscado confrontar la 4T.
“El Times tomó miles de fotografías del sitio del siniestro y compartió las pruebas con varios ingenieros expertos que llegaron a la misma conclusión: los pernos metálicos que eran cruciales para la solidez del viaducto —y que servían como base de toda la estructura— parecen haber fallado debido a soldadura deficiente, falla grave que probablemente causó el choque” se destaca en el reportaje.
Este trabajo se hizo a partir de fotografías que tomaron los periodistas de NYT, entrevistas con trabajadores, documentos del gobierno de México, análisis de evidencia, pláticas con expertos, todo ello para llegar a la conclusión de que la constructora de Carlos Slim (Carso Infraestructura y Construcción junto con las empresas aliadas) y el gobierno de Marcelo Ebrard fueron los principales responsables, además de agregar que hubo quejas y alarmas desde hace varios años.
“La ciudad presionó a los contratistas para que concluyeran el trabajo lo más pronto posible. Las empresas se arriesgaban a una multa de alrededor de 120 millones de dólares si no entregaban la obra bastante antes del fin del mandato de Ebrard, según Enrique Horcasitas, director del proyecto” destacan en el reportaje, lo que sugiere que las prisas hicieron que el trabajo no fuera de buena calidad.

El reportaje ha dado pauta para que miles de mexicanos le reclamen nuevamente al gobierno de México, además de demandarlo a hablar con claridad y transparencia.
